Mr Martin Schulz, President of the European Parliament, granted his High Patronage to our event. Here below his letter.

Dear Mr. Tona,

Thank you for Your online request of 17 January 2014 asking for the patronage of the European Parliament for the event “Alpe Adria Orienteering Cup 2014” , which will be held from the 27th to 29th of June 2014 in the Cansiglio forest and Conegliano (TV).

Your initiative, which will gather people from all over the world to practice this sport – orienteering – not only will promote the sport among young people, but, as well, will allow them to learn more about the region and its natural products, it is particularly appreciated by the European Parliament. This sporting event is also an opportunity to strengthen ties and respect for diversity.

Our institution, known for its commitment to youth, welcomes projects like Yours aimed to highlight the contribution of sport to the achievement of the strategic objectives of the Union, as it enhances the educational values, cultural rights and is an important vector of education and health.

It is with great pleasure that I grant Your project the high patronage of the European Parliament.
I take this opportunity to wish you every success for what, I’m sure, will be an excellent event.
